Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2019 Section-wise Syllabus and Exam Pattern

XAT Syllabus 2019:

Also known as Xavier Aptitude Test, XAT is one of the highly competitive management entrance examinations in the country. Every year, it sees a mammoth number of students taking the test to get admission in the top-notch management schools in India. One of the major reasons why many MBA aspirants fail to crack the XAT exam could be the inadequacy of the right syllabus. The XAT syllabus is as important as its exam pattern. However, candidates should note that XLRI, the exam-conducting body, does not have a prescribed syllabus for the XAT 2019 exam.   • Verbal and Logical Ability: Vocabulary, Sentence Correction, Paragraph Formation Questions, Fill in the Blanks, Reading, Comprehension, Analogy-based on Vocabulary, Grammar, Poem, etc.
  • Decision Making: Arithmetic, Situational, Analytical Reasoning, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation: Percentage, Polynomials, Time & Distance, Progressions, Data Sufficiency, Profit & Loss, Equations, Time & Work, Scatter Plots and Bar Charts, Numbers, Permutation and Combination, Probability, etc.
  • General Knowledge: Geography, Books and Authors, Currency, History, Personalities, Invention, Important Dates, Science and Business, Current affairs, National Capital, Films, Culture, etc.
  • Essay Writing: For essay writing, candidates need to be very diverse and well-versed in current affairs. Essay topics are basically abstract in nature.

XAT Exam Pattern 2019:

Like the syllabus, the exam pattern has also a pivotal role to play in the XAT exam. XLRI Jamshedpur will conduct the exam in the online mode on behalf of XAMI. There will be 5 sections - English Language & Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Decision Making, Essay andQuantitative Ability. The total number of questions will be 98.

Note: XLRI will deduct 1/4th marks for every wrong answer. If a candidate doesn’t attempt questions beyond 8, he or she will have to face 0.05 marks deduction.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) Important Dates:

The XAT officials are yet to declare the exam schedule. However, keeping the previous year’s trend in mind, it can be said that the entrance test would be held in the first week of January 2019. The submission of online application form will begin from mid-August 2018.
