Last Modified: 25 Apr 2024

The Staff Selection Commission has cancelled the SSC CGL Tier II 2017 examination for a Delhi centre. The commission says no re-examination will be conducted.

19 February 2018: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has cancelled the second shift of the ongoing SCC CGL Tier II examination at an exam centre in Delhi after reported malpractices. Paper chits with answers written on them were found in the toilet of the venue after the completion of the Quantitative Aptitude paper. When the representative of the Commission went there to confirm the fact, he was mistreated by few applicants. In the wake of these events, the Staff Service Commission decided to cancel the examination (second shift) for that venue.

The SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier II examination began from 17 February and on the first day of the examination these events occurred. The name of the centre is Animate Infotech, Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate, New Delhi. The Commission will not re-conduct the examination for the batch.

As per the Controller of Examinations, SSC, “The Commission immediately swung into action and established contact with the Police to ascertain the facts of the case. Prima-facie evidence clearly indicates that the entire episode was created by some unruly elements, with a malafide intention, to try to disrupt the examination. In the meantime, based on video footage of the incident available with the Commission, stringent action will be taken against those candidates who were actively involved in disrupting the said examination.”

The official notification further states that examinations for the remaining five days (from 18 to 22 February 2018) will be conducted as per the schedule under enhanced security arrangements.

The Commission also reported that the SSC CGL Tier II examination (in both shifts) was conducted successfully (no troublesome activities) across all 206 venues in 69 cities.

This year, a total of 1,89,843 candidates are appearing for Tier II of the SSC CGL examination. The Tier I of the examination was conducted from 05 to 23 August 2017
