CBSE Or NTA, Who Will Conduct The NEET Exam 2018?

Last Modified: 17 Apr 2024

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET exam 2018 will be expected to conduct in 10th May. This entrance examination for the undergraduate MBBS and BDS courses is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education so far. But the controversy has arisen recently after the proposition of the introduction of the National Testing Agency or NTA to conduct all the CBSE exams including NEET.

NTA would be responsible for conducting all the national level entrance examination to relieve the educational bodies like CBSE, AICTE many other. The main reason behind the establishment of the committee is to reduce some burden from CBSE and make a standardized entrance test throughout the country. The Ministry of Human Resource and Development is extremely keen to hand over the charge of conducting NEET exam to NTA.

But for 2018, it is expected as per the news of undisclosed source, the conducting body for the NEET exam will be CBSE only as the previous interests were vested with this board. As per the report, CBSE is going to release the official notification regarding the exam in the January 2018.

As per the report on a leading news paper of India; 'The MCI officials said that the admission which is based on NEET results will begin in deemed universities from July 10 and the results for the NEET are likely to be announced in the first week of June.'

Last year the NEET exam was conducted on 7th May where nearly 65,170 MBBS students and 25,730 BDS students were selected. As per the news paper report the admission process for the deemed university will start from 10th July. The Medical Council of India is looking to merge two different medical examination tests in just one NEET exam.
