The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) that is conducted for engineering and technology graduates interested in pursuing post-graduate courses such as M.Tech., M.E., Ph.D. The exam is conducted by IISc (Indian Institute of Science) and IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) on behalf of the National Coordination Board. The Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also considers GATE’s score for recruiting graduates at various posts.
GATE is considered as one of the toughest exams by engineering graduates. The online application process for GATE 2018 Entrance Exam has begun and the last date for applying is 5 October. Students can apply through the online GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal. The main exam is scheduled in the month of February 2018.

More than 500 institutes including IISc, IITs and NITs consider GATE score for admission. Few non-Indian universities also take into consideration the GATE score for admission to their Masters and Ph.D. courses. These institutes include; Nanyang Technological University Singapore, National University of Singapore and few technical universities in Germany.
The result of GATE 2018 entrance exam is scheduled to be announced on 17 March. GATE score remains valid for 3 years.
