NIOS D.El.Ed. Exam for Untrained In-Service Teachers from 31st May – Check Out Details

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will be conducting D.El.Ed. exam from 31st May to 2nd June.

17 May 2018: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India has assigned the responsibility of conducting the D.El.Ed examination for un-trained in-service teachers to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The examination for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) will be conducted for around 13 lakh untrained in-service teachers from 31st May to 02nd June.

As per an official statement, “In order to maintain the sanctity of examination, NIOS has to ensure that all the pre-conduct, conduct and post conduct activities are accomplished well in advance.”

The statement said, “All Officers and Staff of NIOS, are therefore advised not to take any kind of leave during the evaluation activities (pre-conduct, conduct and post conduct activities) except in extreme circumstances with proper justification and with prior approval of the Competent Authority”

Availability of Study Material

NIOS D.El.Ed. is an ODL (Open and Distance Learning) programmes. Along with the NIOS official web portal for D.El.Ed., teachers can access the digital study material through various other sources as stated under:

SWAYAM platform: Teachers can register themselves at www.swayam.gov.in to access study material for different subjects of the course. It offers tutorials and tests for each subject.

SWAYAMPRABHA DTH VAGDA Channel No. 32: Teachers registered for the D.El.Ed. programmes can watch subject-related videos on SWAYAMPRABHA DTH VAGDA Channel No. 32.

NIOS_DElEd App: NIOS has also developed a mobile app ‘NIOS_DElEd’ for teachers to access study material, videos, audios, and important information regarding the programme. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store free of cost.

Mukta Vidya Vani (MVV): It is a web radio where audios related to education are streamed 24x7. Live programmes by experts are also broadcasted where teachers can ask their queries.

About D.El.Ed. Programme

NIOS has designed the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programme in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for teachers at an elementary level. The programme is of two years duration consisting of 10 papers – 5 papers in each year. NIOS D.El.Ed. is approved by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). All untrained teachers whose appointment is made on or before 10 August 2017 are eligible for this programme. It is designed to develop skills, competencies, and understanding for making teaching more effective.
