MHRD Released NIRF India Ranking 2018: Top 10 Educational Institutes in All 9 Categories

The all India ranking list by MHRD’s NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) includes all 9 categories such as Overall, Engineering, Universities, Management, Medical, Architecture, Law, Colleges, and Pharmacy.

New Delhi/04.04.2018: MHRD’s NIRF India Ranking 2018 has been released by the union minister for human resource development Prakash Javadkar. The all India ranking list by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) includes all 9 categories such as Overall, Engineering, Universities, Management, Medical, Architecture, Law, Colleges, and Pharmacy.


The union minister congratulated all the educational institutions for their remarkable efforts in shaping students’ future, ultimately making it to the top 10 list. He tweeted, “Congratulations! All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi @aiims_newdelhi topped in Medical Institutions category #IndiaRankings2018 #NIRF2018 #TransformingIndia”. 

In the Overall Category, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc, Bangalore) grabbed the first position. IITs have secured major positions in various categories including Engineering, Universities, and Overall. In the Engineering Category, only Anna University, Chennai, and Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai was able to make it to the top 10 list besides 8 IITs.

This was the third edition of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Rankings) since its inception on September 29, 2015, by Minister of Human Resource Development. While announcing the ranking, he further added public institutions must take part in it to avoid fund cut. He quoted, "And, those public institutions which will not take part in it will face fund cut".

This year, a total of 2,809 institutions (301 Universities, 101 Medical Colleges, 1087 Degree Colleges, 71 Law Institutions, 906 Engineering Colleges, 59 Architecture Institutions, 487 Management Colleges and 286 Pharmacy Institutions) took part in all nine categories.
