JEE Main 2020: NTA Plans to Conduct JEE Main in Multiple Languages

JEE Main 2020: On Wednesday (06th November 2019), West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee creates a buzz in the social media platform, as the political leader has criticised the Centre for adding Gujarati as a medium for JEE (Main) exam. As per her recent tweet, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee alleging that the decision to conduct JEE (Main) only in Gujarati and not other regional languages promote discrimination in the society.

In return the JEE Main exam conducting body NTA, the National Testing Agency clarified that it included Gujarati as a medium for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) because none of the states approached the NTA to provide the JEE (Main) question paper in any other Indian national language, other than the state of Gujarat.

Now, in return, the central government is planning to conduct the JEE Main exam in multiple languages similar to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) secretary R. Subrahmanyam said that the central government is planning to conduct the entrance exam in all the 22 regional languages.

In a recent interview, MHRD secretary R Subhrahmanyam said “unlike NEET which is offline, the JEE Main is computer-based test and therefore, there are some technical limitations. “Since JEE Main is computer-based exam, there are several limitations which need to be addressed first for the exam. We are committed to performing JEE Main in multiple languages and the complete process will take time,” Subrahmanyam said, adding that there is no plan to withdraw Gujarati from 2020”.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency has announced the clarification that the translation of JEE (Main) 2020 question paper in Gujarati language continued on the request of Gujarat State. None of the other states have approached us to provide the question paper of JEE Main in any other Indian National Language.

The application process for JEE Main 2020 January session has been conducted from 03rd September 2019 to 10th October 2019, while the admit card for the same will be made available by 6th December 2019. JEE Main is a CBT mode engineering entrance exam conducted to offer admission in the several top-notch engineering institutes of the country.
