MU OET Exam

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE – formerly known as Manipal University) has released the MAHE online application forms for the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2019. The online application forms are available at the official website from 10th October 2018. The exam is conducted for admission to UG and PG courses in engineering, Pharmacy, and Applied Sciences offered at the institution. The admission to Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim, and Manipal University, Jaipur will also be done on the basis of MET score. As per the statement on the official website,

  • All admissions to BArch is through NATA exam conducted by Council of Architecture (CoA)
  • All admission to Medical (MBBS, MD/MS/PG Diploma/Super Speciality) and Dental (BDS/MDS) are through NEET examination and counselling by DGHS/MCI.

Changes in the MET (MU OET) 2019 Application Process

Here are few changes in the application process included from 2019 onwards:

  • Candidates can select only one preference for the test city while filling the MET 2019 application form.
  • Application fee through Demand Draft will not be accepted. Payment of fee can be done only through the online mode.
  • Registration can be done only through email Id, mobile number and password.
  • Ganjam and Gulbarga have been included as new test cities for the year 2019 while Jammu, Jamshedpur, and Dehradun have been removed as the test cities.

MU OET Exam 2019 Pattern & Syllabus

For the MET 2019 exam, candidates will get three attempts. The best of all the scores will be considered for the admission. Here are the pattern and syllabus details of the exam.

MU OET (MET 2019) Exam Pattern

MET 2019 exam will be conducted online. The exam pattern for admission to different courses will vary. Here are the details:

For B.Tech/B.Pharma

The examination will be of 2:30 hours’ duration comprising of 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) distributed as under:

MU OET 2019 Syllabus

Candidates can check the syllabus for MET 2019 entrance examination on the official website under ‘Academics’ section for all the courses. For B.Tech, the questions will be based on the topics from Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and General English syllabus of 10+2 level which is followed by major Boards and Universities. MU OET Exam 2019 Eligibility

Eligibility for the MET (MU OET) 2019 exam is determined by the exam conducting authority. Separate eligibility criteria are set for different courses. Here are eligibility details for different courses:

Age Limit

There is no minimum age limit for the admission.

Educational Qualification

Educational qualification is different for admission to different courses. Here are the requirements for some of the courses:

For B.Tech.

Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics, and one of the optional subjects.

Candidates should have studied Mathematics, Physics, and English as mandatory subjects in the qualifying exam. Optional subjects include Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or other technical subjects.

For M.Tech.

Candidates should have B.Tech./BE or any other equivalent degree with minimum 50% marks.

For BBA

Candidates should have passed class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks.

Minimum Marks in the MET Exam

Candidates should have scored at least 50% marks in MET exam to become eligible for the counselling process.


MU OET Exam 2019 Application Process

The MET 2019 application form is available on the official website from 10th October 2018. They will remain available till the last week of March 2019. Candidates are required to follow the steps mentioned below to complete the application process:

  • Go to the official website - https://manipal.edu/
  • Click on ‘APPLY NOW’ tab on the top right corner of the home-page.
  • You will be redirected to ‘MAHE Online Application Form’ page.
  • Enter your email address, select country, enter the mobile number, and choose a password under ‘Register’ section. Click on ‘Register & Continue’ button. Please note that there will be no option to edit the email id, password, and mobile number.
  • Once the registration is done, log-in to complete the form.
  • Enter your personal details, address, educational qualifications, scanned image of photograph and signature.
  • Select the course you are interested in and the exam centre.
  • Make fee payment using net banking, credit card, debit card, Paytm and mobile wallets. The application fee is the same for all category students.
  • After completing the application form, take a printout of the same.

All category candidates are required to pay the same fee. Application fee can be paid only through online mode using internet banking, credit card, debit card, and other online payment methods.


Other Details

MET 2019 Slot Booking

After successful submission of the application form, candidates are required to book their slots for the examination where they are required to select the date, time and centre for the examination. The slot-booking is done on the first-come-first-serve basis i.e. no bookings can be made on a slot if it gets filled.

Procedure for Slot Booking

  • Candidates are required to follow the steps mentioned-below for booking slot:
  • Visit the candidate’s log-in portal on the official website and log-in using your application number and password.
  • You will be redirected to your profile. Click on ‘Book a seat’ option.
  • Now, fill the slot booking form and select a slot for the entrance examination from the given slots.
  • If you are sure about the exam dates you have selected, give confirmation for the selected slots. No changes will be allowed in the examination slots once saved successfully.

Once the slot booking is complete, admit cards/hall tickets will generate. However, candidates can download the same only after 24 hours of slot booking.

MET 2019 Admit Card

Admit card for MET 2019 can be downloaded 24 hours after the slot booking process gets over. Candidates are required to take print of the admit card and paste their photograph at the space provided and sign the admit card. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website using their login details. The MET 2019 Admit Card or Hall Ticket will contain the following details:

Candidates are advised to keep the admit card safe till the counselling process gets over. They are required to present the admit card at the time of counselling.

MET 2019 Answer Key

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) will not provide the answer key for the MET 2019 examination. If the University decides to release the answer keys, they will be accessible through the official exam page.  

MET 2019 Result

MU OET/MET 2019 result will be declared in the third week of May 2019. The result will be available on the official website and candidates can check the same using their application number and password. The merit list/rank list will be released after the declaration of the result. Subject-wise rank list and All India rank list will be made available on the official website.

  • Enter your application number and password to log-in.
  • Your MET 2019 result will appear on the screen.
  • Download the result and take a printout. 

MET 2019 Cut Off

MET 2019 cut-off is the minimum marks required to qualify the entrance examination and get admission in various courses offered by the University at its different campuses. The cut-off is announced after the declaration of the MET result. The MET (MU OET) cut off varies among courses and institutes. The difficulty level of the examination, number of applicants, seat intake, and student’s preference are some of the factors determining the cut-off. MET 2019 Counselling

Candidates who secured the minimum cut-off marks and have met the eligibility criteria are called for the counselling process. The MET 2019 counselling process will begin from the first week of June 2019. Candidates have to register for the counselling process. Candidates are required to be present at the respective venue for the counselling process. The reporting time, date, and venue of the counselling will be notified to the candidates.

After document verification and seat allotment, candidates are required to pay a part of the course fee and get the provisional admission letter. Those who wish to change the allotted seat or who have not been allotted any seat in the first round have to wait for the waiting list. Candidates to whom the seat has been allotted are required to report at the allotted college on the date and time mentioned on the provisional admission letter. Do carry the admission letter.

MET 2019 FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Are there any reserved seats for admission to the University?

No, there are no reserved seats, management quota, or payment seats of any kind. Admission to the University can be secured only through the merit obtained in the MET entrance test.

Q: Are there NRI seats in the University?

Yes, there are NRI/Foreign seats in the University. However, they are not equivalent to management seats or payment seats.

Q: What will be the medium of MET 2019 question paper?

The MET 2019 question paper will be only in the English language.

Q: Will there be negative marking in the MET/MU OET 2019 entrance exam?

No, there will be no negative marking in the examination i.e. no marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

Q: Do we need to carry any ID proof along with the admit card on the day of examination?

Yes, every candidate needs to carry a valid ID proof along with the e-admit card to the examination venue. The ID proof can be anyone from the driving licence, passport, voter ID card, PAN card, college/school ID card, etc.

Q: I want to pursue MA in Interior Design from MAHE, do I need to appear for the MET 2019 exam?

No, there is no entrance exam for this course. Admission will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam.

No, you are not eligible for admission into B.Tech. course offered by MAHE as Mathematics is one of the mandatory subjects for MET 2019.
