Practice is the only way to get success in the Written Ability Test (WAT) conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The WAT is conducted for candidates who qualify the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission into management courses offered by the IIMs.

WAT is a written test where candidates are given a topic to complete within a given time duration. The test aims at checking the thought process and expression skills of the candidates. Many institutes have replaced the Group Discussion with WAT while others have included it with GD and PI.

IIM Shillong Previous Year Topics

So, to help you in your WAT practice, here are some past years’ topics asked at Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. It is the seventh IIM in India. We have included the complete list of previous years’ WAT and GD topics in the PDF form at the end of the article.

2009-2010

  • An advertisement agency is popular for originality of work. It got a huge contract and has a deadline which is too short for the design team. A team member suggested picking up the idea from another advertising firm. What do you think; should they steal the idea to meet the deadline or be original and take the risk of losing a big contract.

2008-2009

  • Sinha Industry has improved the quality of their products so they want a rise in payment per product from their buyer Neon Engineering. The company earns 65% of their revenue from Neon Engineering. Mr. Joshi working in Neon engineering is in a dilemma on the matter. Suggest what should Mr. Joshi do?
