Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 was conducted on 7 January 2018 from 10 AM to 01:30 PM. This year, the exam was conducted online for the first time. XAT is among the most popular and competitive MBA entrance exams. It is the only major MBA entrance exam including essay writing before the short-listing stage and is considered as one of the toughest management entrance examinations in India.

The online question paper for XAT was divided into two parts:

  • Part I: It was divided into three sections –

    • Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning
    • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

Essay Writing

Candidates were required to attempt the essay writing section online where they have to type on the notepad. The topic for the essay was:

“Ethical Practices and Sustainability: Do they co-exist?”

Most of the candidates found the topic easy.

XAT 2018 Expected Cut Off

XAT cut off refers to the minimum percentile that candidates need to secure for getting shortlisted by XLRI Jamshedpur and other participating institutes. You can check out the expected cut off for XAT 2018 here -

Technical Glitches

XAT was held online for the first time. Some students faced various issues during the computer based test. Most common complaint was that of the test getting reset unsaved. XAT 2018 was not conducted at BM Group of Institutions at Farukhnagar, Gurgaon due to technical issues. Students have shared their complaints through social media platforms.

XLRI has rescheduled the exam for two centres. Candidates have also received SMS regarding the same.

“Dear Candidate we regret the inconvenience caused due to technical glitch. Exam will be rescheduled and date will be communicated shortly.
