Maratha Community can Avail the Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj Scholarship

The students belonging to the underprivileged sections are given a scholarship benefit for pursuing professional courses by the department of the higher and technical education of Maharashtra. The scholarship has been named as the Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj scholarship scheme.
The scholarship has been announced to pacify the Maratha community. The community has been demanding for long their inclusion in the OBC Category. Earlier, the scheme was only meant for Vimukti Jati, Jamati (Scheduled Tribe) and OBC.
Under this scholarship, students are given 50% waiver of their tuition –fee. They can avail this scholarship benefits to study any of the 605 professional courses. Earlier only 35 professional courses were included under the scholarships. It is applicable for students whose annual family income is between 2.5 lakhs to 6 lakhs per annum.
Those students who are enrolled in the professional courses in government-aided institutions, partially aided institutions, or unaided institutions can claim for the tuition-fee waiver under this scholarship programme.
