The GATE 2018 is scheduled on 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th February. The IIT Guwahati has already released the mock test online. The candidates can have a clear idea about the syllabus, exam pattern and marks scheme from the tests. It will help you to get the admission in M.Tech, ME or Ph.D programs of the IITs, IISc, IISE₹ and many other reputed institutions. The GATE score can also be used in recruitment process for both government and private organizations.

To score descent marks in the GATE exam 2018, the candidates need to know and cover the full syllabus of the exam. The syllabus for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is ‘based on the disciplines studied in the qualifying examination’. Guwahati IIT has already specified the syllabus for the 23 papers of the examination. The syllabus for 2018 is almost similar with the previous year. In almost all papers, the course has been divided into various sections. The candidates can check the detailed syllabus to get a clear idea about it.

The Common Sections:

The General Aptitude is the common section for all the papers. The Engineering Mathematics is also mandatory for all the papers except GG and XL. In the GA sections, There will be 10 questions for 15 marks. In the Verbal Ability section, there will be topics like English grammar, verbal analogies, sentence completion, word groups, critical reasoning, instructions and verbal deduction. In the Numerical Ability section, there are points like Numerical computation, numerical estimation, data interpretation and numerical reasoning. Engineering Mathematics is an applied mathematics deals with the mathematical methods and techniques for the engineering industry.

GATE syllabus for Petroleum Engineering:

In the syllabus for Petroleum Engineering, there are 15 topics to cover. This stream of engineering deals with the production of hydrocarbons (crude oil or natural gas). The important topics for 2018 are Linear algebra, differential equations, petroleum exploration, petroleum production operation and oil and gas well testing.

GATE Syllabus for Textile Engineering and Fibre Science:

IIT Guwahati has already released the syllabus for the Textile Engineering and Fibre Science. There are 22 papers based on the graduation program. The complete syllabus is available on the official website of GATE exam. The important topics to be cover are Textile Fibre, Textile Testing and Chemical Processing.

GATE Syllabus for Engineering Science:

 

The question paper of the GATE exam will have 65 questions in 3 different sections carrying 100 marks. The syllabus for the Engineering Science has based on the graduation course. For 2018 examination, the most important topics are Fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, polymer science, material science and food technology.
